مهاجرت آگاهانه و موفق Successful and Smart Immigration

As you know, a new system called Express Entry has been introduced for receiving immigration files in certain categories as of January 2015. This system has essentially changed the way applicants will be accepted in some immigration programs. In this system, applicants will not be put into a processing queue just because they have sent in an application; the federal government, instead, selects applicants based on undefined criteria. Therefore, an applicant may not be accepted even after having created a profile for a few years, whereas another applicant may be accepted and given a chance to apply for Permanent Residency in the first month of creating a profile.

This system has many advantages. For instance, it is assumed that applicants are selected only when there is a job opportunity, or at least when the governments feel the need for a specific specialty or skill. This is a big advantage for newcomers, as a lot of their time will not be wasted looking for a suitable job during the first years of arrival in the new country.

However, the problem is that the selection criteria are not clear and applicants cannot figure out what ranking and priority the federal government has dedicated to their files for sending the invitation letters to apply for PR. Nor, on the other hand, has any method been defined based on which they can hope that all these actions have been performed according to some standards and transparent criteria, so that they will be able to challenge the system if these standards and criteria are violated. In other words, the applicants have no rights and are not allowed to protest, as the system is defined in a way that makes everything depend on the will of the federal government. For instance, if the government decides to send invitation letters to all skilled workers in a specific expertise from say, Ireland, and not to send any invitation letters to the subjects of a specific country, it cannot be easily accused of discrimination, partly because there is no clear information in this regard, and partly because in this system, the government can easily justify any behavior on the pretext of the need for certain jobs and skills. In the long term, we can get results by formally requesting for information and analyzing it, but this requires some time longer that the lifetime of the governments.

We now feel more concerned as we know that Harper’s administration has no limitation in the violation of prospective immigrants’ rights, and is avoiding transparency more than any other government despite its claims about forming a transparent government in 2008. This government does not pay any attention whatsoever to public opinion, and easily violates the basic rights included in the Canadian Charter of Freedom and Human Rights. The most evident instance of this behavior can be seen in the passing of the new citizenship law.

In short, this system is a good tool which can be in the applicants’ interest, if used by a fair government, but can lead to the violation of people’s rights if used by a government such as Mr. Harper’s. Hopefully, in the next elections, a wise, modest government will be elected and this problem will be solved.

Despite these problems and concerns, I strongly recommend applicants to create an immigration profile.

I used to know a country which was well-known for being peaceable. Unlike its southern neighbour, this country was not looking for reasons to quarrel and fight with other countries. It was not surprising that it was a safe land for war refugees; those who were looking for a safe shelter and a peaceful life in a corner of the world far away from the sufferings and pains of their homeland. By this country, I mean Canada — a country that does not exist anymore; a Canada which did not accompany its southern neighbour, the ever-ready-to-fight Yankees, in invading overseas; a Canada whose envoys were the ambassadors of peace and friendship all over the world; a Canada that had a reasonable, logical relationship with the rest of the world and avoided any extremism and interference in regional crises. That was why its subjects were popular worldwide, and why the subjects of its southern neighbor used its flag on their belongings in their overseas trips so that the Canadian popularity kept any harm from them.

This Canada, which does not exist anymore, was concerned about its reputation in the world, worried about the environment and what greedy opportunists do to it, and a pioneer in regional and global activities to preserve the environment. It did not have any enemies, so it did not have to have bombs and rockets, or a costly army, or to spend millions of dollars from the pockets of its hard working people on aircrafts which exist only on paper ادامه ی نوشته

The Iranophobia Project

A little while ago, the Canadian media was full of stories quoted from the RCMP about two people arrested because they intended to sabotage the Canadian Railway System. It may not seem weird at first, because we are used to hearing a lot of stories about terrorism and terrorists who kill and sabotage with religious motives. However, this time, the story went out of its way to make a link between these two people and Al-Qaida in Iran. A few days later, when the names were disclosed, it turned out they were not Iranian. Further news confirmed that one of them was from Tunisia and the other one from Palestine, who — despite having a criminal history in the country he resided in, i.e. UAE, managed to get permanent residency in Canada. The RCMP could not answer who the Al-Qaida agents in Iran purportedly are, how this relationship and link have been established, or any of tens of more questions in this regard, which was exactly why some journalists thought that this allegation was doubtful.

The attempts of the Canadian conservative government to make a link between Iran and terrorist actions were followed by another allegation claiming that some Iranians go to Canada with vicious intentions, expressing concerns in this regard. Who these people are or how we could discover their vicious intentions even before they had the chance to do anything was another question the RCMP cannot answer. ادامه ی نوشته

این روزها حال خوشی ندارم نه از بابت کار و درگیریهای زندگی که به دلیل خبرهای نه چندان دلچسبی که از گوشه و کنار می رسد. ظاهرا قرار بر این است که دولت هارپر چهره زیبای کانادای صلح دوست را در جهان تغییر دهد. کانادایی که نامش یادآور  تحمل و مدارا میان اقوام و مذاهب و نیز عدالت و صلح و آرامش جهانی بود به سرعت به سمت تبدیل شدن به یک کشور جنگ طلب و پرخاشجو در حرکت است. دولت هارپر آفتی است که به جان هویت کانادایی افتاده است که آخرین ثمره آن رای منفی به شناسایی فلسطین به عنوان عضو بدون حق رای سازمان ملل بود. متاسف شدم که کانادا در کنار تعداد معدودی از کشورها در مقابل ۱۷۹ کشور که حداقل ۱۳۹ تای آنها به این خواسته رای مثبت دادند قرار گرفت.

می دانم که اکثریت کانادایی های با این سیاستها مخالفند و  سر و صدای زیادی هم در کانادا بر علیه هارپر ایجاد شده است. امید دارم در سال ۲۰۱۵ هارپر و حزب زیاده خواهش از قدرت خارج شوند اما نمی دانم تا آن زمان چه از کانادا باقی می ماند.  یادش به خیر آقای ژان کرتین نخست وزیر کهنه کار لیبرال کانادا که برای مشارکت در جنگ با عراق به آمریکا نه گفت و تا پایان بر این نظر ایستاد. مرد بزرگی است و عمرش دراز باد.

برای ما مهاجرین و به خصوص ایرانیان سیاستهای این دولت در بعد داخلی البته اهمیت بیشتری دارد و روزی نیست که برای خوشآمد دیگران هارپر سودایی در سر نپروراند. ادامه ی نوشته
